Why Brain Games Induce Creativity

One of the most difficult things I have found in business is how do you stand out in this busy noisy world. Whether online or a storefront positioning yourself as unique can be difficult. What I have learned is that it’s the thought leaders that reach an extraordinary level of success.

Denise Brosseau is quoted as saying, “thought leaders are the informed opinion leaders and the go-to people in their field of expertise. The are trusted sources who move and inspire people with innovative ideas.” In order to inspire innovative ideas, you must ‘think’ creatively.

Innovative ideas will not just happen there has to be something that motivates the brain to become more ingenious. Although you constantly hear people talk about being innovative and creative no one actually teaches you the how to.

What if I told you that you can become a thought leader by thinking creatively? And what if I told you that you can exercise your brain to become wildly creative and innovate, which will position you as a thought leader?

Brain games are one of the best brain exercises you can do to spark your genius. According to Claudia Anrig exercising the brain induces the range of motion that activates the different parts of the brain. This brain exercise Anrig coined neurobics. Creative games or brain games are the perfect neurobics for triggering creativity and innovation.

Spending at least 15 minutes a day on a brain game such as Luminosity, Guess the Colors, Sudoku, and Mastermind as well as others will ignite the creative in you. Doing daily brain exercises will vitalize the brain and activate critical thinking and stimulating imagination.

Notice how easy it is for children to activate the imagination. This is because they play all day and play produces vision and inspiration.

There are three things that you should include in your daily exercise regiment:

1) Do daily brain game exercises– make it your routine
2) Handwrite your notes – Carrie & Alton Barron MD’s authors of The Creativity Cure, say that it’s the best way to retain things in your mind
3) Rethink Labels – break down items to their most basic element such as a pencil is wood, rubber and led. By breaking down items you find new uses for each individual item which perpetuates creative thinking (Amy Mayer – Scientific American Mind).

Apply these techniques to your daily life and you will find a notable difference in how your brain induces creativity.

To Your Success,

Dr. Nilda
